Although new chestnut is a nut, it is also called "fresh fruit" in nuts. Because of its rich nutrition, high water content and strong vitality. There are four kinds of fear in storage: fear of freezing, fear of high temperature, fear of drying and fear of water. Improper storage can easily lead to water loss, germination and decay. Generally, during storage, when the temperature in the bag exceeds 20 ° C, cooling measures such as stacking and bagging ventilation should be taken immediately.
At present, there are two common storage methods for chestnuts:
(1) Sand storage method: the temporary storage method commonly used in chestnut producing areas is simple and easy. After the chestnut is picked and temporarily concentrated, the wet sand (the ratio of chestnut to sand is 1:2) is used immediately. After mixing, it is stored in the cushion shed for burial, commonly known as "false burial" (sand warehouse). Pay attention to the storage of sand: generally, the humidity of sand for mixing should be held in the hand to form a group, which should be loosened and dispersed.
(2) Cold storage method: it is an important storage method for chestnut exported from China. The general requirements of refrigeration conditions are that the temperature of the warehouse should be maintained at 0 to 5 ° C, the fluctuation should be as small as possible, the relative humidity should be more than 80%, and the carbon dioxide concentration in the warehouse should generally not be higher than 3%.
The stacking of chestnuts should be strictly managed in batches, with good ventilation, and the stacking spacing should be kept more than 1m, so as to facilitate sampling and maintain air circulation.
